The First 72 Hours

The first 72 hours are critical to successful reintegration into society for women.


Release Day:

1. Pick up the woman from prison.

2. Go to parole office, UA facility, monitoring agency, and/or other pertinent appointments.

3. Present the woman with their Joy Bag.

4. Go shopping for food, clothing, and other first day essentials.

5. Go for coffee to give support and encouragement.

6. Get the woman settled into her motel or other housing.

7. Pray for the woman.

8. Set up the schedule for the next day.


2nd Day:

1. Pick up the woman from her motel or other housing.

2. Go to breakfast to give support and encouragement.

3. Go to Department of Revenue for an ID.

4. Go to Social Services to apply for food stamps and Medicaid.

5. Provide training/support for using new technology.

6. Provide training/support for bus/light rail riding.

7. Visit the Re-Entry Center.

8. Pray for the woman.

9. Set up the schedule for the next day.


3rd Day:

1. Pick up the woman from her motel or other housing.

2. Go to breakfast to give support and encouragement.

3. Develop a plan for job hunting. Give resources.

4. Offer suggestions/ideas regarding how to be successful on parole.

5. Have a heart to heart conversation to evaluate what the woman needs in way of support/classes/treatment.

6. Run remaining errands.

7. Pray for the woman.

8. Offer to take the woman to church on Sunday.


After the first 72 hours each woman will continue to receive mentoring by phone/text and weekly support coffee dates!
